As the weather heats up and, for some people, the school year starts to wind down, I’m reminded of summers past and the fun times I’ve had. When I was in high school and college, no summer vacation was complete without a trip to some music festival.
I still remember the first Christian music festival I went to – Uthtopia ’99, sponsored by Radio U in Columbus, Ohio. That day was life-changing for a lot of reasons. I met people who would inspire me to become more involved in the music industry, and I made friends who helped me get through those tough high school years and still hold on to my faith in Christ. It was also the day I accepted Christ, at a Third Day altar call, with my older brother by my side to support me in that decision.
Another great Christian music festival experience I had – one that I think everyone should try at least once – was Cornerstone Music Festival in Bushnell, Illinois. Cornerstone is a crazy week of often muddy/dusty conditions, very little showering, and tons of great music. There’s no better way to experience all of the best in popular and up-and-coming Christian music than being shoved into a poorly ventilated tent with a few thousand strangers.
The best thing about music festivals is that the experience really depends on you. More Here…
