Wayne Gretzky, the retired hockey player, was nicknamed “The Great One” because of his amazing ability to play hockey. Some say that he was the greatest hockey player in the history of the sport. But did you know that when he was growing up he wanted to be a baseball player, not a hockey player? Fortunately, he was smart enough to choose the sport God uniquely gifted him to play, rather than the one he first wanted to play.

Sometimes our dreams don’t match up to our gifts. Each of us needs to ask God to reveal what he has designed for us to do well and then do it. Remember, God doesn’t want you to be someone else – he wants you to be you. Don’t try to be a Wayne Gretzky or a Bill Gates, or even your cousin Pete. Be the best teacher, salesman, counselor or mom you can be. And do it for God!
