What Goes In Will Come Out

I know there are many people who say Christian rap music is just not as good as some of the secular music that swarm our radio waves. The Eminem’s and Jay-Z’s of the world seem to be able to draw listeners in even when their music is junk. This is mainly due to the amount of non Christians who want nothing to do with God or don’t feel listening to cursing, killing, and drug use mean anything spiritually. The truth is, it opens the door for sin and Satan to reside in their lives. When I was listening to secular music, I didn’t think it was bad for me. But God reviled to me that out of the abundant of the heart, the mouth speaks. Well how do things get into my heart? Simple. Through what you see, what you hear, and what you taste. You see our body is a temple for God. Whatever we let into our body becomes a part of us whether we believe it will or not. I encourage you to take the time to look in the mirror and see if there are things you put into your body that you maybe shouldn’t be. Don’t worry about what it is. God forgives all and He can help you overcome temptation to fill your body with junk.

When I go to some local housing projects preaching the gospel, I let some of the people hear lecrae and they love it. Right now there’s a guy name Johnny who goes with us and he said helped him get saved. Lecrae is making a big impact when he’s heard. I wish I could burn a bunch of Copys and hand them out in the projects. I would buy a bunch but our ministry doesn’t have that kind of $. We bought a copy of rebel and took it to a local boys home for them to share and they love it.

This is right on. Mark Hall talks about the “Phillipians filter.” This refers to Phillipians 4:8 “Fix your thoughts on what is true honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Mark Hall says this is how we should approach those things we see and listen too and particularly talks about this issue of secular music. It’s really just letting Satan in through the back door.
