Each Thursday we will be putting you on to an album or mixtape you may have overlooked that we think is worth adding to your collection. This Thursday we’re putting you on to the 20/20: The InVision EP (2007) by Chicgao-native J Kwest. I remember the first time I heard this album. I became an instant fan. The song “So Blessed” pretty much became my theme song for 2007 and I constantly kept it on repeat. It’s the perfect “feel good” track. I was impressed with Kwest mainly because of his fearless lyricism and creativity on the mic. Many of the songs were out of the box and revealed to me that he was something special – which he has proven to be since then. He puts me in the mind of Common, but only if Common would take a little risk creatively. They’re both from Chi-town, so go figure.
