Everything We Do Teaches

I have a friend who repeatedly says, “Everything we do teaches.” He’s right. What we say teaches others what to say. The way we drive teaches others how to drive. When we swear we teach others to swear and when we are dishonest it teaches others to be dishonest.
Jesus warned his followers of the dangers of causing others to do wrong. He said, “Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to the person through whom they come.” He wanted us to not be surprised by the reality of human sinfulness or the potential and probability of wrongdoing, but he was telling us to never be the one who causes others to sin. We need to watch what we say and do, as we are a constant influence on others.
Everything we do teaches. So be sure you are not teaching others to sin!
