Different Value Systems

The religious leaders in the first century, called Pharisees, sneered at Jesus when he said that loving money is “detestable in God’s sight.” They thought that Jesus didn’t know what he was talking about. But they missed the point. It wasn’t that Jesus was financially ignorant; it was that Jesus had a totally different value system.
The Pharisees loved money and cared about what people thought. Jesus loved God and cared about what he thought.
You see, it all comes down to what we value the most. Our world puts a cheap price on valuable things and a high price on things with little ultimate value. Jesus valued things like goodness and godliness and the Pharisees laughed at his efforts.
We each need to take a close look at our own value system. Is it like the Pharisees or like Jesus?
