Reach Records currently has an artist roster that consists of Lecrae, Andy Mineo, KB, GAWVI, Trip Lee, Tedashii, 1K Phew, WHATUPRG, and Wande. The label has a rich history and has made major moves in the music industry since founded in 2004. They got into this because they love Jesus and love hip-hop.

Sho Baraka was one of the first artists on the label. He released ‘Turn My Life Up’ in 2007 and ‘Lions & Liars’ in 2010. Both considered classic by many in the Christian Hip-Hop community.

Ruslan interviewed Sho Baraka for his podcast on the early days of Reach Records.

“When you read the book ‘Outliers,’ you learn that there is this nexus of hard work, and opportunity, and kind of like providence. For us, there was these individuals like myself, Lecrae, Tedashii, who were students there (UNT), and gifted in some form of musical expression. There were other folks too and we were working hard. The providential thing that happened was, Cross Movement had a pretty good relationship with my brother. My brother led a Bible study at the University of North Texas, the school which he graduated from years before us. He was in seminary. The Ambassador was in seminary at Dallas Theological Seminary as well.” – Sho Baraka

Sho Baraka’s brother asked The Ambassador if he would mentor the Reach crew. In his interview with Ruslan, he continues to tell more stories about the beginnings of 116.
