I am so heartbroken at this video. Lecrae is one of the first cats that got me into actual "gospel rap". His lyrics were so laced in the truth and the word of God that I made it my point to bump it wherever I went. I bought his music and turned my youth group and older cats like myself on to the new movement of gospel rap.
Now to hear that he is just an artist contradicts what his earlier music said…"I hawk a loogie on the fame", but now the cry is that "the powers that be" are keeping you down…what about the Holy Spirit that brought you from nowhere? What about riding with the top down, listening to Jesus music? What about Souled Out…and seeking God's face till you fold out? Where you live like Christ? What about indweling sin, which at the time found me right where I was…trusting my heart and not Jesus!! I really could keep going.
Don't take this as a diss or anything, I'm just a fella who was a huge supporter of your work. I was bumping After the Music Stops riding to work just the other day, and honestly just prayed for you bro. Just know that bro all of our destinies are rooted and grounded in Christ, and if we deviate from his direction, to position ourselves in a place we desire to be, is it really God's will anymore? I love you bro and still praying for you.

  7. Sherlene Thomas says:

I think what makes me like Lecrae so much is because he does whatever he wants. He doesn't follow anyone but himself.
He lets God led his life and he follows. He is where he is meant to be. I think he is own genre. and I love it. I think if he was more mainstream, then he would't be lecrae.

  11. Jose Morales says:

the world will hate you for believing in christ

  12. John D & Kmarie says:

People are funny. Other rappers can have a variety of topics, but not Lecrae? Jay Electronica and Yasiin Bey can reference their Islam and get on the radio but 'Crae can't reference Christ? Drake can reference his relationships with women and get on the radio but 'Crae can't reference his wife? 'Ye can talk rhyme about culture and get on the radio, but 'Crae can't? 'Crea can sell more records in a day than Young Jeezy yet Jeezy gets on the radio and 'Crae doesn't? The "powers that be" should just admit they're biased, and leave it at that. They want to use hip hop to control people's views. Leave it at that. Radio has long been irrelevant to technologically modern people.

  14. babila nketi says:

I'm not sure what lecrae is talking about. He's being put in box because of his faith. ? Heck yeah, aint that what Jesus kept emphasizing. ? You will be persecuted for ur faith. If he doesn't get alienated it means he fits right into mainstream. I hear now he just wants to be an artist so everyone can listen on radio stations but the very reason he's getting real famous is because he was doing the it differently.

  15. Lee Louviere says:

If it's someone from my parent's generation, I say it's Rap, but Christian. If I get a weird look, I'll say it's the most spiritually challenging music I've ever listened to. I also listen to Christian Heavy Metal, Gospel (if it's heavy), and Classical music.

If it's my generation or younger, I say it's Lecrae. If they ask me what type of music that is, I'll respond, Lecrae.

I mean, every disk is something different. Gravity and Church Clothes isn't the same thing. And I think it's awesome that everytime I pick up your new Album, I'm guaranteed to add a favorite to my collection that isn't like anything before.
