Do you ever stop to thank God for preserving you from all the possible things that could have gone wrong?

One time on an airplane I had an unexpected reminder to be thankful for God’s preservation. When I’m flying, I like to sit in an aisle seat, but I often look across my seatmates out the window while we are landing. On this particular flight I noticed the man in the window seat cross himself as the wheels touched the ground. I thought to myself, “That’s not a bad idea. This guy is grateful to God for getting him safely back to earth again.” What I had seen as routine, he had turned to praise.

The Bible is filled with praises to God for preservation. But sometimes it’s good to be reminded not just to thank God for what went right, but also to thank him for all the things that didn’t go wrong!

  1. This is a great post! The Word says, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).” Just as we should repent for sins we unknowingly committed we should also give thanks for blessings we’ve unknowingly received.

I actually just posted a poem on this subject entitled Only God. It can found at the following site.
