Sometimes it’s hard to understand how prayer works. We think that if we get our prayer exactly right, God will do as we request. There’s an assumption that if we have enough faith or get enough people praying with us, God will do whatever we ask.

But we need to remember that answers to prayer are up to God, not us. It’s not as though we can go to a computer and enter the right letters and symbols in exactly the right order and then push “enter” and God will do as we have directed. God is not a machine, he’s a person. The final decision on our prayers is his to make, not ours. Our faith is in God, not in the expectation that he will do our bidding.

Faith is not that we will get the answer we want, faith is the belief that God will do what is right and best.
