Mother’s Day is often a celebration of nostalgia. We think back to the good old days when life was simple and less stressful. We yearn for two-parent homes and non-working moms. But are things really all that different?

What divorce is doing to families today, death did in earlier times. And as far as non-working moms, in generations past the mothers worked from dawn to dusk in the house and in the fields. They had little more time to devote to their children than today’s mothers who work outside the home.

The real issue is not the times in which we live; for every generation has had honorable women and dishonorable women; marvelous mothers and miserable mothers. Today’s need is the same as every era, for the right kind of woman— one who looks to God to help her in everything she does.
