So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.
Genesis 2:1-3

When God says something is holy, He is specifically setting something apart from the rest. The first six days of Creation were each special and to be held with honor when we think about these days, but neither one was more important than the other. Each one was equally relevant to the entire story. The seventh day, though, was when God stopped and rested from His work. In Genesis 1:31, God stopped to look over everything detail and saw that everything was very good! Then He stopped to take some “R & R”.

But Isaiah 40:28 says, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding.” So why did the LORD rest on the seventh day?
