Hello everyone and welcome back to the latest installment in my Artist of the Week series, it’s been a busy past few weeks so that’s why the delay in between articles.
But we’re back with a special guest this week, sosey is an underground Christian Hip Hop artist who has been going crazy lately.
Not very many artists come to mind when it comes to sosey’s sound, to quote reactor Spiritual Lemonade: “sosey’s sound is like a hybrid of hyperpop and underground rap, with a sound that brocky has been doing and that Vennisay has dabbled in. But in a way that’s his own”
sosey takes what brocky, who is also an underground CHH artist is doing and manages to put his own spin on it, making it a sound super unique to him.
sosey started to release his music in 2024, having only dropped four songs, 2025 was the year that changed everything for sosey, he started releasing music consistently, with the release of his debut album from me 2 u <3 , as well as a total of eight singles, sosey entered this year with a bang.
He dropped his first EP on January 2nd of this year and just released his second album entitled ROCK*STAR on March 6th of this year, ROCK*STAR is one of my personal favorite albums I’ve heard so far this year and what inspired me to ask sosey if he would be interested in being on this series.
I go through periods of time where I just feel uninspired to do this series because of the amount of work that goes into it, as well as trying to juggle it in my free time when I’m not at work has been hard this past few weeks.
When I listened to ROCK*STAR on Saturday, the following day after it had dropped, it really inspired me because what I was hearing was something fresh, new and creative, despite it’s short run time of 21 minutes and a total of 12 songs, it’s shortness adds to it.
Sometimes an album’s length can make or break, but sosey has managed to cheat the system, leaving you wanting more after the album is over is in my opinion one of the best compliments an artist can receive and something I look forward to in an album.
sosey doesn’t shy away from talking about his faith, he’s loud, proud and unashamed of Jesus in his music, intertwining his faith with top notch production, a unique flow over perfect beats, sosey is everything and more you would want in an artist and is severely underrated.
